This is a part-time (FTE 0.6) permanent role based in Australia, with potential to grow into a full-time position.

Position overview

As we enter a growth phase, we are looking for an experienced Contract and Risk Manager to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will manage a portfolio of commercial contracts, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and effective risk management. Collaborating with various departments and external stakeholders, you will identify, assess, and mitigate risks while optimizing contract performance.

Key responsibilities:

• Contract management: Manage the end-to-end contract life cycle for a portfolio of commercial agreements. Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with clients, vendors, and partners to ensure compliance, minimize risks, and value is optimised and realised across all parties involved.
• Risk assessment: Audit, identify and evaluate potential risks associated with contracts and operational processes, implementing strategies to mitigate them.
• Investment: Support the preparation of investment business cases for new investment opportunities in preparation for executive and board review (as and when required). Present approval papers in seeking approvals specific to new investment deals or variations.
• Collaboration: Work closely with legal, finance, and operational teams to align contract terms with business objectives and risk appetite as well as support the successful delivery of contracted services.
• Monitoring and reporting: Monitor contract performance and ensure compliance with contractual obligations. Develop and maintain risk management frameworks, providing regular reports to senior management on risk status and contract performance.
• Training and support: Provide training and guidance to team members on best practices in contract management and risk assessment.
• Continuous improvement: Stay updated on industry trends and regulations to enhance contract and risk management processes.

Your skills and experience  

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, law, finance, or a related field. A master’s degree or relevant certification (e.g., CRM, CPCM) is a plus.
• Experience:
o Minimum of 7 years of experience in contract management and risk management in a global organization, preferably in the sustainability and carbon industry.
o Experience managing a portfolio of 10 to 20 contracts.

• Skills:
o Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
o Strong attention to detail.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
o Proficient in contract management software and risk assessment tools.

Knowledge: In-depth understanding of international contract law, commercial contracting principles, risk management principles, and compliance requirements.
• Attributes: Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
