NatureCo works to empower partners and communities to be confident in taking ownership of local nature-based carbon projects

August 16, 2023

One carbon credit is equivalent to one metric ton (1,000 kg) of carbon dioxide – those in the industry are familiar with this seemingly simple equation.

But for those who are new to the word of carbon and have expertise elsewhere, carbon concepts can feel intangible, technical, and inaccessible. What does a metric ton of carbon dioxide actually look like? How and where is carbon stored when it comes to nature-based solutions projects? And how can it be measured and ultimately lead to carbon credit issuance?

As part of the workshops delivered by the NatureCo Africa team on their recent trip, Mark Graeme (General Manager, Operations) took the World Vision Kenya group outside for a session to help bring clarity and develop a deeper foundational understanding of some key carbon concepts. Clear and effective communication is a core NatureCo value, and through our training and capacity-building programs we aim to support and empower partners and communities to be confident in managing and taking ownership of local nature-based carbon projects.
