A strong synergy exists between NatureCo and global environmental and social NGOs. Relationships with global NGOs, such as One Tree Planted, enable NatureCo to scale up high-impact, high-integrity projects that create enduring outcomes for people, nature and the climate.
A for-purpose company driven by long-term partnerships
Evolving out of one of Australia’s largest environmental NGOs, NatureCo holds the values of an NGO at its core. “This provides real opportunities for long-term meaningful partnerships”, says Dr. Melanie Kaebernick, Director of International Partnerships at NatureCo.
“These partnerships are fundamental to the successful delivery of nature-based projects, and we recognize the power in leveraging the skills and networks of NGOs to complement our own wherever possible to achieve shared goals.”
Our team’s relationship with One Tree Planted, a global charity that specializes in reforestation programs, began in 2020. It has become a key partnership for NatureCo, built on mutual values and complementary skills to undertake global reforestation projects together.
NatureCo’s relationship with One Tree Planted goes beyond the implementation of projects – also looking into the application of technology in the nature-based carbon sector and investigating how we might work together on various innovations.
“NatureCo has a genuine care and drive to make a lasting impact on both nature and local communities. We work with a shared vision, knowing our values and principles align”, says Beth Dalgleish, Regional Director Asia Pacific for One Tree Planted.
When it comes to reforestation carbon programs that run for 20 to 30 years, it’s critical to ensure an alignment of values with all NatureCo’s partnerships – whether it’s NGOs, local groups or our clients and investors.
Partnering with local organizations and community capacity building
NatureCo also invests in building lasting relationships with local NGOs and community organizations. Such organizations are critical in the project design and implementation of nature-based projects – but often don’t have access to global carbon markets.
Arising from One Tree Planted’s partnership with the Centre for Conservation and Development (CCD) in Vietnam – we are now also working with CCD to develop nature-based projects and delivery capacity building programs in Vietnam.
NatureCo acts as a vehicle to direct investment from carbon markets into local community projects, as well as conducting customized capacity-building training programs to support local organizations to increasingly run the projects themselves.
“By drawing together our skill sets with global and local NGOs and designing nature-based projects with ongoing social benefits, we are well positioned to support biodiversity and livelihoods”, says Melanie.
“Our team brings deep expertise in carbon and global environmental markets, allowing us to access funding from investment partners – while NGOs tap into their local networks and experience working with communities, contributing a crucial understanding of the required conservation and development outcomes.”
