Project Overview

Rwanda

This project will help farmers establish productive agroforestry systems across six districts in Rwanda. Working with local government and farmers, the project will train community members in nursery establishment and management techniques, including seed collection, propagation and ongoing care. These community-managed nurseries will supply millions of trees and shrubs to project sites, strengthening natural resource management, diversifying livelihoods and building resilience to climate change.

Beyond environmental outcomes, the project supports broader community priorities by helping households access finance, advancing gender equality and strengthening income security through sustainable, profitable enterprises. By involving community members directly in nursery production and tree-planting activities, the project fosters local ownership and ensures the long-term sustainability of restoration efforts.
