Project Overview

South-west Kenya

The Kenya Water Towers Ecosystem and Livelihoods Restoration Carbon Project (KWERP) project aims to restore 20,000 hectares of degraded forest ecosystems through reforestation and agroforestry. The project will work to increase the resilience of vulnerable households to climate change through diversified livelihoods and improved natural resource management in the Mau Forest Complex and Mt Elgon Water Towers.

Reforestation and agroforestry will rebuild natural vegetation structure, enhance soil stability, and support more reliable water flows, helping communities and ecosystems better withstand climate variability.
