Empowering communities in Vietnam: Field insights from Dakrong Nature Reserve
Elliott James Ong and Alice Duong have just returned from their trip to Vietnam. Alongside Nguyen Huu Nghia and Dinh Thi Kim Van from our partner Centre for Nature Conservation and Development Vietnam (CCD), the team spent five days conducting stakeholder consultations and capacity building with local communities in the Dakrong Nature Reserve, including from the Van Kieu and Pa Ko ethnic minority groups.
Our goal? To validate our understanding of the region, ensure our proposed activities align with the local needs, and explore how this project can enhance both livelihoods and environmental health in this challenging, mountainous terrain.
These activities are part of a larger collaborative effort under the Business Partnerships Platform (BPP) initiative to advance nature-based carbon solutions in Vietnam, alongside Cooper Energy, One Tree Planted and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
We’re excited to use these insights to drive positive impact for people, climate, and nature. Contact us today find out more.
