Chandrakant Deokar’s recent visit to the Sundarbans, alongside Blueyou , Conservation International, and local partner JYDC (Joygopalpur Youth Development Centre), highlighted the transformative potential of integrating mangrove restoration with sustainable aquaculture. Conversations with local communities, farmers, and stakeholders revealed a powerful shared vision of blending traditional knowledge with innovative strategies to restore ecosystems and enhance livelihoods.

Mangroves play a critical role in carbon sequestration, biodiversity conservation, and protecting coastal communities from climate impacts like storm surges and rising sea levels. As we continue project planning and engaging with local stakeholders, we are inspired by the potential to strengthen natural hydrology, improve water quality, restore native mangrove species, and support local communities.
