Advancing ecological restoration and sustainable livelihoods: NatureCo’s collaborative efforts in the Sundarbans

August 1, 2024

NatureCo team members Alessia Cascione and Chandrakant Deokar have just returned home after their recent trip to the Sundarbans, India, where they joined Joygopalpur Youth Development Centre (JYDC) and local stakeholders to progress an exciting integrated-mangrove shrimp faming project.

During this visit, Alessia and Chandrakant conducted comprehensive field visits, focus group discussions, and collaborative capacity-building workshops with key stakeholders, with the objective to enhance ecological restoration and sustainable livelihoods in this unique region.

The team had the privilege of engaging with a diverse group of local stakeholders, including aquaculture farmers, women’s self-help groups, and research institutes. These interactions were instrumental in deepening our understanding and refining our project strategies based on on-ground realities and community needs.

We are thrilled to collaborate with Conservation International in the design and development of this exciting project, and creating enduring benefits for people, nature, and climate. If you would like to learn more about NatureCo‘s approach to project design and implementation, capacity building, and ensuring long-term social and environmental outcomes, please get in touch today.
